NitroPlate Southern Stock / Super Stock Shootout Added to Gainesville!

Ronnie Smith Jr. drops the hammer in his '68 Camaro and ("BOOM!") - rear bumper wheel stand! The NitroPlate S/SS Shootout is coming to Gainesville Raceway.

The Super Chevy Show is pleased to announce the addition of the NitroPlate Stock / Super Stock Shootout at Gainesville Raceway. Chris Avaritt - Product/Sales Manager for NitroPlate High Temp Coatings, came to us with the idea for a NitroPlate Sponsored Shootout. We thought it would be a great addition to the Gainesville event. Chris has been working diligently to pull this off in such a short time. He has done all the planning, communication with the Southern Stock / Super Stock Association, and even lined up additional sponsors that are providing awards, gifts certificates and contingencies. We can't thank Chris enough for all his hard work," stated Greg Baumer National Sales / Advertising Director at AutoStar Productions. Sponsors that have stepped up for the NitroPlate S/SS Shootout include: (deep voice) "JEGS", JAX WAX, Pit-Pro Custom Carts, Hooker Headers - (Thank you Phil!), B&B Race Cars, S&W Race Cars, J.W. Performance Transmissions, Speed Unlimited Inc. and of course - NitroPlate!

"NitroPlate got involved with the Shootout because we are racers, and we wanted to support the Stock/Super Stock guys. There are no harder working racers in the sport than the S/SS racers. They are all trying to be the quickest and fastest. Plus, SSSSA races two - very cool classes," stated Avaritt.

"The Southern Stock/Super Stock Association consists of Sportsman racers who want to return to the grass roots of Drag Racing when it was fun to meet at the track and enjoy the company of like minded people. Included in our membership are many NHRA and IHRA National and World Record Holders from all over the South. Providing a safe and fun race is what we are all about! We must be doing it right because we are the fastest growing group of our type in the country," said Jim Wahl Vice President of the SSSSA. Wahl added, "The Super Chevy Show crowd will experience the excitement of high winding, wheelstanding side by side action of Southern Stock and Super Stock Drag Racing that will have them on the edge of their seats."

So what will rabid Super Chevy Show racing fans expect from the NitroPlate Shootout? "The fans will see 3600lb. Stockers running in the high 9's low 10's on a 9" tire, with totally stock suspensions. These cars will also be leaving that starting line on the rear bumper! The Southern Stock / Super Stock Association Drivers are very limited in the engine area with very strict rules. However, some of the Super Stockers will be running high 8's low 9 second runs," added Avaritt.

NOTICE: Gainesville Raceway Added to 2008 Schedule!!!

There is a business principle called the "Boomerang Theory." The Boomerang Theory states "Do the things that make your customers want to come back." This theory is one of the main business practices of the Super Chevy Show.

In 2007, the Super Chevy Show traveled to Bradenton and West Palm Beach, Florida. In 2008, we left the State of Florida off of our schedule.

AutoStar Productions, Inc. producers of the Super Chevy Show, is located just 15 minutes east of the State of Ohio Capitol - Columbus. Many people would think that since we are BIG fans of the Ohio State Buckeyes that we purposely left Florida off of our schedule after losing both the NCAA National Football and Basketball Championships to the Florida Gators. Obviously, we were hurting! (No comments from Jerry Daisey!) But, that wasn't the reason. Our goal was to make our schedule coordinate with Super Chevy Magazine, so we could get expanded magazine coverage for every event.

Floridians responded with the same hurt that Buckeye fans had after our two losses. So, after your many disappointed phone calls and emails that were received, the Super Chevy Show responded by adding a 16th event to our 2008 schedule. The Super Chevy Show presented by NPD returns to Gainesville Raceway September, 19-21.

Our goal is to keep our fans coming back! We are pleased to be back at one of the premier drag strips in the country, and look forward to seeing you at Gainesville Raceway.

NOTICE: October Tulsa Event Cancelled!!!

Due to a major scheduling conflict that could not be resolved, we have chosen to cancel our October 17-19 Super Chevy Show event in Tulsa. We wanted to inform our fans of this schedule change right away. We are working diligently on finalizing out 2009 Schedule, and will release it as soon as we dot all the i's and cross all the t's. 2009 will mark our 29th season of producing more shows, awarding more trophys and providing more fun for Chevrolet Enthusiasts than anyone else in the world! As always, we want to say, "Thank You," for your support of the Super Chevy Show!
